Serious Skin Care Treatment

When you have a healthy and radiant-looking skin, people instantly assume that you are taking real good care of your body, particularly your skin. The skin is actually regarded by many as a mirror of oneself, in which it is a reflection of how one takes care of his body.

Of course, to keep our skin looking beautiful and young, proper skin care is really necessary. See, there are a lot of skin care regimens that people can adapt and practice everyday, and there are also a number of skin care products available in markets today that are formulated to maintain the natural suppleness of the skin.

Meanwhile, skin care does not necessarily have to cost you a lot of money. As for skin care products, learn how to choose products that are not too expensive yet provide excellent skin maintenance results. Treatments, on the other hand, do not really need to be high-end and costly. Simple treatments like facial are usually the ones needed by the skin.

What is a facial treatment?

A facial is a form of serious skin care treatment that nourishes, exfoliates, and cleanses the skin, thus, promoting a well-hydrated, smooth, and clear complexion. This type of skin care is in fact regarded as one of the most popular and in-demand spa and salon treatments today.

There are a lot of tools and equipment used in facial treatments. Among them are the following:

   1. Facial chair or bed
   2. Magnifying lamp
   3. Facial steamer
   4. Small trolley
   5. Cotton and cotton pads
   6. Gauze
   7. Towels
   8. Head covering
   9. Facial massager
  10. Cleansers, astringents, sanitizers, moisturizers, creams,
  11. Facial masks

What are the basic procedures in a facial treatment?

The following are the basic steps in a facial treatment:

   1. Facial cleansing
   2. Skin analysis
   3. Exfoliation using steaming
   4. Extraction of blackheads
   5. Facial massage to relax the body and stimulate the skin
   6. Application of facial mask
   7. Application of protective creams and toners

How often should you get a facial treatment?

According to dermatologists and skin care specialists, people should get a serious skin care facial treatment every four to six weeks. The ideal number of times to have facial treatments is four to five times a year. Those who have skin complications like acne may need to get a facial more often than the usual recommended times to get it.

As for the cost of the treatment, it varies depending on the price offerings of spa and salon establishments. The packages and add-ons on the procedure make the cost of the treatment higher.

Furthermore, those who cannot afford to get a facial treatment at spas and salons can opt for a home-made facial treatment. A quick facial regimen that can be practiced at home includes that following easy-to-do steps:

   1. Splash your face with warm water.
   2. Massage your face using olive oil.
   3. Thoroughly scrub your face with a half-teaspoon of sugar.
   4. Wipe your face with a warm wet cloth.

Caffeine Causes Wrinkles

If you have any intentions of maintaining healthy, wrinkle-free skin, you need to reform your body from the inside out. A good start is refraining from drinking caffeinated beverages, such as coffee and soda. Caffeine, an addictive substance contained in numerous beverages, removes moisture from your skin.

When your skin is dry, it is much more prone to developing fine lines and wrinkles. Since caffeine also acts as a diuretic, it also encourages more frequent urinations. These urinations contribute to the depletion of moisture within your skin. Although you can re-moisturize your skin using moisturizing lotions, we recommend tackling the problem from its source.

Those of you who are serious about maintaining excellent skin should drink plenty of water, fruit juices (unprocessed) and coconut milk. These beverages will keep your skin moisturized and will thus leave it less prone to developing wrinkles and fine lines. Since these drinks also aid in keeping many of your organs healthy, your skin will look better than ever before. As many of us know, numerous internal problems are reflected in our skin.

We encourage everyone to start dumping their caffeine beverages in lieu of healthier and less problematic drinks. The numerous problems which stem from caffeine consumption are endless and are not worth the hassle. If you are concerned about dumping caffeine all at once, we recommend gradually reducing consumption until you are no longer dependent. At that point, you can substitute your caffeinated drinks with healthier alternatives.

Bright Ideas About Skin

People may wish for a "healthy tan" but exposure to ultraviolet light damages skin cells' genetic material and can contribute to skin cancer formation, not to mention lines and wrinkles. Here are some rules to live by when it comes to the sun and your skin.

- Remember, sun damage is cumulative. Exposure to ultraviolet light during childhood will increase the risk of developing skin cancer in later years. It's never too late to begin using sunscreen, however, to inhibit further sun damage and not just for a day at the beach. Daily exposure adds up. It is important to use daily products with SPF for your hands and face and any other exposed skin. Don't forget your lips. They burn just as quickly, so opt for a lip balm such as Beyond Belief Lip Balm with SPF 15.

-Get enough protection. SPF stands for "sun protection factor" and ranges from a base of two to a maximum of 50, providing the strongest protection. The sun protection factor helps you determine how long the sunscreen will protect your skin. In general, if your skin is fair, you will burn more quickly than if your skin is olive or dark. To determine how long you can stay outdoors without burning, take the number of minutes it takes your unprotected skin to start turning red, then multiply it by the SPF factor. For example, if your unprotected skin begins to redden in 10 minutes, an SPF of 15 will give you 150 minutes of sun protection.

-Ensure constant protection. Reapply sunscreen after swimming or other physical activity and at regular intervals to be sure that perspiration doesn't leave you unprotected. Remember that reapplying sunscreen does not make it safer to stay in the sun longer; it just re-establishes the protection you have already applied.

- Protect sensitive skin. It's not okay to go without, so start looking at the ingredients. You may be allergic to PABA, an effective sunscreen ingredient. Look for a PABA-free sunscreen. Additionally, if you are allergic to hair dyes, avoid sunscreens containing PABA.

- Don't forget your hands. Keep a hand lotion with SPF in your glove compartment. Your hands get a lot of sun when you drive and remembering to apply some sort of SPF when you're on the road will keep them younger looking. BioLink Daily SPF Moisturizer is a good choice.

Reducing Signs of Premature Aging

Americans young and old are often concerned with slowing the aging process-and perhaps nowhere on the body is that concern more focused than on the skin.

Skin is the body's largest organ, its "first-line defense" against disease and one of the most obvious aspects of a person's appearance. Yet every day, the skin is assaulted by pollutants in the air and damaging rays emitted by the sun as well as artificial light. Over time, this onslaught compromises the cell functioning of the skin and robs it of the natural hydration so important to health and beauty.

Scientific evidence and medical opinion point to the need for a new type of beauty regimen-one that not only takes care of the skin from the outside in through topical preparations, but also from the inside out, through the diet.

A growing body of research suggests that the nutrient lutein, long recognized for its role in promoting eye health, also provides considerable skin health benefits. Lutein, found in dark green leafy vegetables (such as spinach, kale and collard greens) as well as egg yolks, is also available as a dietary supplement.

Taken on a daily basis, lutein supplements may help to support the skin's natural antioxidant defenses against the long-term damaging effects of sun and artificial light exposure. Lutein may also improve skin hydration and help reduce the appearance of premature aging, as suggested in new clinical research.

"Exposure to light is perhaps the most serious threat to healthy skin," says Holly Showalter, Ph.D., Senior Scientist, Research and Development, Kemin Health, which makes the natural FloraGLO® Lutein ingredient used in hundreds of different supplement brands around the world. "The damaging effects of ultraviolet rays from the sunlight are well known," she points out.

Less well known, according to Dr. Showalter, is the fact that sunscreen offers no protection against the potentially damaging effects of high-energy, visible blue light. Blue light is emitted by the sun, as well as indoor lighting sources such as fluorescent and halogen light.

"Lutein absorbs blue light, in effect filtering it before it can damage the skin," notes Dr. Showalter. "In addition, scientific studies indicate that lutein may help bolster the skin's natural antioxidant defense system, enabling it to combat the damaging effects of many types of environmental exposure."

Preventing Age Spots

Getting older doesn't necessarily cause age spots.  Too much exposure to the ultraviolet rays of the sun is more likely to cause these unattractive blotches, than maturity.  This is why age spots are also called sun spots. Other factors that make you more susceptible to age spots (no matter what your age is) are smoking, a diet high in refined sugars and fats, a lack of vitamins, and over consumption of poor quality saturated oils. Age spots occur when our skin produces too much lipofuscin.

Lipofuscinis is a dark substance that colors our skin pigment. Unsightly age spots can begin appearing as early as the late twenties but are most common after the age 55 (thus the name.)

Age spots are also known as liver spots. Other nicknames for age spots are brown spots, lentigo and sun spots. The name sun spot nickname of course comes from the fact that the skin darkens as the result of too much frolicking outside in the summer.

As is the case with most skin conditions age spots are much simpler to prevent than to cure. Your diet has a lot to do with reducing your chances of developing this unsightly condition. Eating a diet rich in orange vegetables (carrot and yams) and green leafy vegetables (collard greens and watercress) may help reduce your chances of developing these spots as you age.  These foods are rich in antioxidants that help fight off damaging free radicals that are created as the result of too much exposure to the sun. They are also foods that are rich in Vitamin A and carotene, which also helps keep your skin in tiptop condition and more resistant to ultraviolet rays.

If you already have already developed age spots the good news is that there are some ways to diminish the way they look. There are several products on the market today that can fade them so they are less noticeable.  The active ingredient in these over the counter products that is a chemical called hydroquinone. Hydroquinone is a mild bleaching agent that helps lighten the appearance of all kinds of dark skin discolorations including age spots, scars and freckles.  Some prescription versions of this scream also contain topical vitamin A, which can also help fade the look of obnoxious age spots.

If your age spots are particularly unattractive or forming in an undesirable place where they are too obvious (such as on the face) there are some slightly more invasive ways to cosmetically treat the problem. One of the most popular cosmetic treatments for age spots is a chemical peel. These peels contain anywhere from 70% to 80 % glycolic acid and remove layers of skin to reduce the appearance of the spots.

Yet another option is laser resurfacing. In this procedure the age spots are literally burned away using a sophisticated, targeted laser. However this treatment only works well on very white skin with very dark age spots. This is because laser treatments need a contrast of colors (black on white) to do their job well. Darker age spots on dark skin do not respond well at all to these treatments. If the age spot is lighter, purple or an odd color laser resurfacing may also not succeed in removing it. Black or dark brown age spots on fair skin respond the best to this treatment.

Although most age spots are harmless blotches, the early stages of skin cancer can masquerade as innocent looking dark spots. Your physician or a dermatologist should check any spot that enlarges, thickens, changes color, itches or bleeds. Irregularly shaped dark spots that change in color or increase in size could be the early warning sign of serious skin cancers.

One cost effective and natural way to reduce age spots is to simply keep out of the sun and wear long sleeved shirts. You should always take precautions to protect all of your exposed skin if you know you are going to be in a place where there is likely to be a lot of ultraviolet light.  Make sure that you always wear sunscreen when you are out during a sunny day.  Limiting your intake of alcohol can also discourage a propensity towards developing the unattractive skin discolorations.

Look younger as you get old

Everyone wants to get youthful and attractive appearance. Do you know that just by following some simple skin care techniques you can look younger? Here are those techniques. Just follow these and see the results.

Avoid over makeup

Many women use more cosmetics when their skin starts showing signs of age. It is advisable to use fewer amounts of cosmetics because as you get older your skin starts losing its firmness. If you apply more makeup it tends to slide into and accentuate lines and furrows.

Avoid all-over foundation

Don’t apply all-over foundation. Instead dot an opaque concealer or stick foundation over brown spots and broken capillaries. After that use a sheer concealer to eliminate shadows under eyes and in and around skin folds. It is better to avoid glossy lipsticks because they can slide into vertical lip lines. It is better to stick to matte or pencil types instead.

Make your face look attractive

Use a soft cream-to-powder blush for cheeks. It won't get caught in nearby crow's-feet. Rim eyes with a brown powder liner, applied with a dampened brush, for softer definition. Harsh lines may exaggerate wrinkles and sagging.

Stay away from round or scoop necks, which repeat the curve of a drooping bust. Instead use V-necks to direct the eye upward. To hide a sagging neck, avoid the classic turtleneck because it pinches loose skin. Use a scrunch-neck or loose-fitting mock turtleneck. And look for jackets with small shoulder pads to square off slumping shoulders and balance out widening hips.

Tips for jewelry

As for jewelry, stay away from chokers, because they draw attention to crepey neck skin. Instead, try a pendant necklace with that flattering V-line. Don't use dangly earrings that accentuate jowls. Delicate stud, button, and small-hoop earrings are all classic looks that enhance but don't overpower your face.

Use retinoids

Skin care experts recommend adding a prescription retinoid to your skin-care regimen. It helps to smooth UV-induced wrinkles, clear up brown spots, and reduce other visible signs of aging. Retinoids are the most documented and scientifically proven de-agers.

These potent creams and gels are acid derivatives of vitamin A. Over time, retinoids can stimulate collagen production and increase the skin's water content. This helps prevent sagging. It is also important to use sunscreens, which should be used every day, at any age, in any weather.

Anti Aging Facial Skin Care

If you’re serious about anti-aging facial skin care, you owe it to yourself to investigate all the alternatives. While cosmetics might seem to be the logical solution, over time their cost might prove prohibitive. Botox injections, chemical peels or microdermabrasion can give superior (and more immediate) results that often justify the additional cost.

Botox injections relax the muscles that create wrinkles like the “frown lines” on your forehead. The treatment lasts three to six months, and lines and wrinkles either disappear or dramatically diminish during this period. Besides frown lines, Botox is effective on crow’s feet, laugh lines and forehead wrinkles. A medical doctor must administer Botox injections. After several treatments, some doctors report that the period of effectiveness is extended.

Chemical peels are meant to improve skin appearance and diminish wrinkles by removing one or more of the skin’s outer layers. Like Botox, chemical peels are done by a medical doctor and usually consist of phenol, TCAs (trichloroacetic acids) or AHAs (alpha hydroxy acids). Phenol is the strongest of the chemical peel agents and provides the most dramatic results. TCAs are the next strongest, but several treatments are usually required. AHAs are the least strong and are generally used for skin brightening and smoothing, rather than wrinkle removal. Phenol and TCAs will remove wrinkles and blemishes, and even out skin tone.

Microdermabrasion does not require a medical doctor. It can be performed by a trained aesthetician. In this procedure, tiny crystals are sprayed against the face with a device similar to a sand blaster, producing a gentle polishing action that removes the dead outer layer of skin on the face. Microdermabrasion is less harsh than chemical peels and works well for women with sensitive skin. Treatments must be repeated for maximum effectiveness.

While not for everyone, Botox injections, chemical peels and microdermabrasion are all valid methods of anti-aging facial skin care. If you want fast results and are willing to spend the money, these treatments can provide significant improvements in skin texture and appearance.

Anti Aging Skin Care Tips

As we all get older we seem to lose that youthful glow that we once had. There are many factors fighting against us to keep our youthful looking skin including, sun, wind, the foods we eat, or the lack of hydration our skin so desperately needs.

Quite a few skin care products can help us keep our skin looking better than ever, however, without proper skin care treatment, all the skin care products in the world will not help. To look your best and provide your skin with anti aging skin care you should turn to natural skin care and all natural products.

Let’s begin by first looking at your overall daily routine. You need eight hours of sleep, stay out of the sun as much as possible, use a good all natural moisturizer and above all else drink plenty of water. It is recommended in order to have youthful healthy looking skin the best anti aging skin care starts with eight glasses of water per day.

Exposure to the sun makes our skin dry and weather beaten. If you must be out in the sun, use sunscreen and moisturizers for natural skin care. Read the label, though, you do not want any product that has any type of alcohol in it; alcohol will dry the skin causing it to age as well.

One of the best skin care treatments you can add to your anti aging skin care routine is the use of moisturizers. Our skin loses water constantly and if you are like most people you do not enjoy drinking gallons of water in order to keep your skin hydrated. This is the reason you should use moisturizers every day. You should apply an all-natural moisturizer to your face before you apply any type of make-up.

When you are searching for the best anti aging skin care, you will of course look for anti aging products. The best products for skin care treatment that aid in anti aging are ones that include antioxidants. Antioxidants aid our skin by protecting the collagen and the elastin that we need to keep our skin feeling firm and supple.

The overall thing to remember with all skin care treatment including anti aging skin care is that what you put into your body will show on the outside. You should eat a proper diet and healthy foods. Eating well-balanced meals and nutritional foods will give your skin a healthy glow especially when you remember to drink plenty of water.

Different Types Of Spas

We are usually willing to spend lots of money on clothes, food, traveling and luxuries of life. However, making a trip to the spa and spending money on the treatments available there is something we are rather reluctant to spend money on. The well being of our body is something that has to have a priority in life. So it is actually not a waste spending some money on the treatments in the spa if you are going to get refreshed and rejuvenated after the treatments.

A visit to a spa, even for just an afternoon for a simple massage gives amazing effects to our state of mind. We feel relaxed and happier and can face the hassles of life in a better way. So it is actually worth it making a trip to a spa at least in our lives. However, choosing the right spa for the right treatment proves to be a great task. You have to first have a target to reach for through the treatments in the spa. This is because there are different types of spas that cater to your different needs like relaxation, conditioning, rejuvenation, etc.

There are basically four types of spas. The first is the spa that caters to the wellness of the client. This is for people who have an eventful medical history and treatments are vested after discussions with the client’s licensed health care specialists. Most of the people visiting these spas for treatments are persons recovering from operations and people trying to quit smoking or alcohol. Treatments are administered to the patients according to the case.

The second type of spa is those that take the fitness of the client into consideration. They are specially designed for those who want to relax. Activities like aerobics and outdoor sports are provided here for better physical fitness and relaxation for the client. So this spa is better for the person who is more playful at heart. They enjoy this program because of the chance they are given of learning more activities in the spa.

The third type of spa is the holistic spa. The main reason people join this spa is to learn more about spirituality. This is the best place to head to for to learn more about self-realization. There are different meditation techniques taught here and these treatments come from different cultures and beliefs like the Chinese Tai Chi meditation.

The fourth and the more famous spa is the day spa. People who visit these spas are usually the ones who are more beauty-conscious. Making a visit to these spas gives the client an opportunity to beautify themselves and to relax themselves too. There are different types of treatments that are provided in the day spa that help to relax you and beautify you at the same time like mud packs, sauna baths, massages and yoga. In fact, the day spa is the place the bride and bridegroom head for a few days before the great day!

So making a visit to any form of a spa is greatly suggested. You feel withdrawn from the usual monotonous routine here in the spa, and greatly rejuvenated when you leave it!

Brighten Up Dull & Tired Skin

As we grow older and are constantly exposed to the UV rays of the sun our skin starts to appear dry and dull. This is the result of the outside layer of the skin getting excessive build up and is not exfoliated on a regular basis. Build-up is especially noticed after we have spent the summer in the sun. It’s more apparent to women since we realize that our make-up doesn't look as fresh and our foundation begins to fade within a couple of hours. Our make-up and foundation is actually being absorbed into the accumulated dead skin cells, which gives a very tired and unhealthy look to the skin.

To keep your skin vibrant and healthy on a regular basis, you must have a regimen that incorporates exfoliation and nourishing the skin. Your regular skin care program does not have to be a department store or drug store solution. You can prepare an all nature skin care program right from your kitchen table and manage to get the same results if not better results that your store bought product promises.

Exfoliation:

You should exfoliate at least 2-3 times per week (daily is even better) to keep the skin’s healthy glow. One solution for exfoliating the skin in an in expensive way is to use sugar. Yes, Sugar! Glycolic acid which is found in most AHA (alpha hydroxyl acid) products is from sugar cane. You can benefit from glycolic acid by using sugar for exfoliation.

Simply mix ½ to 1 teaspoon of sugar in with a small amount of your favorite skin cleanser. Wet your face and massage the cleanser/sugar mixture over your face for 1-2 minutes. Rinse your face with lukewarm water to remove this mixture and you will instantly feel a difference in your skin.

Nourish:

Give your skin a refreshing drink with a simple nourishing facial mask. The ingredients are powerful and can be found in your kitchen. Combine one or more main ingredient with a liquid ingredient for to make a wonderful facial mask. Base your ingredient choices on the health properties of each item.

Base Ingredient:

Honey – It is a humectant (which draws in moisture) and it has antibacterial qualities that also stimulates and smoothes the skin.

Mango - Provides natural fruit enzymes which also exfoliates the skin and the oil in mangos help moisturize.

Avocado - A naturally rich moisturizer has essential fats and oils.

Oatmeal – Moisturizing and slightly exfoliating

Liquid Ingredient:

Milk – Enzymes and Lactose acid to exfoliate and milk fat to condition the skin.

Aloe Vera Gel – Healing and softening.

Egg White – tightening and conditioning.

You will want to follow your treatments with your favorite hypoallergenic moisturizer. For best results, these treatments can be done 2-3 times a week to help keep your skin youthful and vibrant.

How to Apply Fake Tan

The dangers of sunbathing are well documented which is why self tanning is becoming increasingly popular. Follow these simple steps to ensure you achieve a perfect looking tan.

Pre- Application

(a) If you have sensitive skin, do a patch test on a small area of skin 24 hours before applying to the entire body. If a reaction develops do not use.

(b) Exfoliate thoroughly and preferably for 2-3 days prior to the self tan application. This will give a smoother surface for the fake tan to be applied and will prevent the tan becoming patchy and uneven.

(c) Moisturise on a daily basis, preferable using a moisturiser that is from the same brand as the self tanning product. Avoid oil based moisturisers which can prevent absorption of self tanning products making them patchy and uneven.

(d) Remove any unwanted hair at least 24 hours before applying the self tan.

(e) Remove hard skin from heels of feet.

Before You Start

(a) Remove all traces of make up with a non oil based cleanser or make up remover.

(b) Remove jewellery.

(c) Do not wear perfume, deodorant or oil based body lotion.

Application Instructions

Step 1: Exfoliating
Exfoliate the entire body using a generous amount of exfoliating product, paying particular attention to elbows, knees, hands, feet and ankles. Once the product has been rubbed thoroughly into the skin it can either be mitted, sponged or rinsed off. Dry the skin thoroughly.

Step 2: Moisturising
Apply moisturising body lotion all over the body, paying particular attention to drier areas including the elbows, knees, ankles, feet and hands. Leave to absorb thoroughly.

Step 3: Fake Tan Application
(a) Wear gloves to protect the hands from staining.
(b) Apply a small amount of fake tan to the fingertips, and apply to the face in small circular movements. Blend the product over the entire face, as if applying foundation. (c) Apply minimum product around the eyebrows and hair line, to the ears and behind the ears.
(d) Apply the product evenly to the neck and shoulders, again working in small circular movements down towards the arms.
(e) Bend the elbows, and apply minimum product to elbows working down towards the lower arm and apply evenly.
(f) Apply product to breast area if required working down towards the stomach.
Bend knees and sweep only minimum product over knees.
(g) Apply a generous amount of product evenly to upper and lower legs but again using minimum products over the ankle.

Beautiful Looking Nails with Solar Nails

Giving a new twist to artificial fingernails is the use of Solar Nails. Though more expensive, the use of these nails are definitely worth your money. Not only do they look natural despite the fact that they are artificial, they also last longer compared to cheaper varieties of artificial fingernails.

Solar Nails are the upgraded counterpart of Acrylic or artificial nails. It is applied quite differently from Acrylic nails. Where Acrylic nails are placed on the nail bed, the Solar variety are applied in a two step process. The white tip is placed first, followed by the pink natural-looking artificial nail. Due to its appearance, Solar variety nails commonly resemble a French manicure.

There are a lot of advantages when you choose to have Solar artificial nails applied. First of all, unlike artificial nails these variety need to be refilled only once every three weeks. This is a more convenient option especially if you cannot invest the time to constantly have your artificial nails refilled. Refilling your nails less often is also a much more economical choice.

Tanning doesn’t have to be a problem when you put on these upgraded artificial nails variety. Unlike Acrylic nails that turn yellow when exposed to too much sun or radiation from tanning salon, Solar nails do not turn yellow at all. Making it look more appealing together with your perfectly tanned skin. This nail investment will surely not go to waste.

Solar artificial nails are also known for their durability. They do not chip easily like Acrylic nails. Since Acrylic nails are applied on the nail beds, when the nail grows the artificial nail has a tendency to break. With the Solar variety, you get longer lasting nails. Another plus for Solar artificial nails is that they do not possess the potential to damage your real nail. As these nails are not extensions like Acrylic nails, it won’t damage your real nails no matter how long you have the Solar variety applied. There are a lot more advantages to Solar artificial nails such as a natural shine that does not require nail polish and the option of freehand designs on your newly applied nails. So choose wisely because when beauty is on the line, Solar Nails will definitely not let you down.

As Summer Fades, Your Tan Doesn't Have To

Enjoying the sun has been a favorite pastime for people of all ages for many years. Today, it is still one of life's free pleasures.

In the early 1920s, "Sun Therapy" became very popular and was prescribed as a cure for everything from simple fatigue to tuberculosis. Around the same time, French fashion designer Gabrielle "Coco" Chanel popularized the tan as a status symbol when she appeared at the fashion shows with a golden tan obtained while vacationing on the French Riviera.

In the mid-1940s, home tanning lamps gained popularity with health enthusiasts. And in the 1970s, the carefree youth culture demanded a year-round tan so they could appear to have just returned from vacation. This spawned the development of the indoor tanning bed (1975) and the growing popularity of sunless tanning lotions.

Today, with superior application methods and advanced ingredients, the use of sunless tanning products is at an all-time high and anyone can enjoy the appearance of a beautiful, healthy-looking tan-year-round.

Keep On Glowing

As summer fades, your tan doesn't have to. One of the simplest and most effective ways to keep a beautiful tan looking fresh and radiant through the sunning season and beyond is to use products specifically designed to create and maintain a sun-kissed glow. Following are some simple sunless tanning tips from the experts at California Tan.

• Always Prepare Your Skin-For best results, prime skin with a gentle, oil-free exfoliating product to do away with rough, flaky, dry skin to create a smooth surface that will more evenly absorb sunless tanning ingredients. Exfoliating will also help color last longer and help the sunless tan fade away more evenly and naturally.

• Apply Self-Tanner Once a Week-To develop or maintain a healthy-looking glow, apply self-tanner over entire body in even, circular motions and always wash hands after application. Never apply self-tanner to palms of hands or soles of feet. Choose a product format that is best for your skin type-lotion for dryer skin, spray for oilier skin, or foam for combination skin. A product with a subtle tint allows for easy application as it "shows where it goes."

• Keep Color Fresh and Skin Hydrated-To extend color and protect a tan from fading away, use a moisturizer containing subtle self-tanning, skin-enhancing bronzers. The combination of hydrating the skin and supplying it with the added bronzers will keep color going strong and skin smooth and radiant.

• Pay Extra Attention to Fast-Fading Zones-Certain body parts, like the face and legs, lose color due to excessive cleansing and/or shaving. Keep color longer by paying special attention to these areas with products designed to extend color longer with bronzing, anti-aging, sun care protection and moisturizing ingredients. California Tan Face Perfector SPF 15 and Leg Perfector were designed to prolong color on your face and legs.

The annoying bit about these zits is not only would they attract attention to you, but they are also painful And this bring us to the obvious question? What to do with the acne.

The simple answer is: squeeze it!

Yeah, because the fashion magazines tell us never to pinch doesn't mean we shouldn't. Of course we are aware of the usual caution bits about popping acne- squeezing can result in a scar. Though this might be a reality, but the cosmetics manuals didn't exactly instruct people on how to pop a pimple.

The process should commence by first cleaning your face from dirt’s, oil and bacteria. The importance of this procedure is that it prevents your fingers from slipping when pressing the acne, but ensure you didn't press more than twice. Exceeding this limit can cause irritations which in turn can lead to further swelling. This simple, unambiguous way is how to pop a pimple.

Generally, most fashion and cosmetics authorities will warn against pinching, squeezing, or popping pimples, but everyone knows this is impossible, and it is not consistent with natural human reaction. A Closer Look at Wart Removal

Surgery is often a popular choice for wart removal. Usually following home treatment and chemical applications on the warts that has failed, surgery remains a common choice for many who seek wart removal. The reason is simple: surgery works. It’s effective, simple surgery, usually performed in a doctor’s office or outpatient center, causes a minimum of pain, very little scarring in the hands of a talented, skilled professional and is usually covered by insurance.

There are two forms of commonly used surgical techniques used for wart removal.

The first is a combination of electrosurgery and curettage. Electrosurgery means using tools that send a small electrical charge into the head of the wart, effectively burning it. Curettage means cutting the wart off completely using a surgeon’s knife or a specially designed spoon shaped device intended for this use. Most often, these two procedures are used together, sending the wart into shock with the electricity and then removing it with the spoon shaped surgeon’s knife. Lately, state of the art lasers have been used with growing popularity and enviable success rates. They effectively burn off the wart by shooting an intense beam of light into the base or root of the wart, severing its blood supply and killing it.

The wart is usually left to die if it is internal or it might be cut off after the laser treatment. Whatever treatment you choose for wart removal, you can rest assured that even if it is new, it has been tested frequently and perfected before it has been used on you. Go to your doctor at the onset of any symptoms or irregularities you may notice in or on your body. Let him diagnose your problem and then discuss the possible treatments. And if you elect wart removal, trust in medical science to have found just the right way to go about it for maximum success and minimum pain.

Tips for a Healthy and shining Skin

Tip 1: Drink Water

Water has long been considered as the most efficient natural treatment or an almost free treatment for any skin condition because of its being alkaline, with pH 7.3.  It prevents dehydration which is capable of producing sebum or oil from the sebaceous glands.  Your skin needs water in order for it to function best, thus doctors and nutritionists suggest that a daily intake of between 6 to 8 glasses of water per day is highly needed.

Tip 2: Watch Your Diet

Nutrition plays a vital role in skin health too.  Specific foods such as those acidic foods and dairy products are said to be effective in causing an allergic reaction in some people.  Also, one of the widely debated topics in the area of nutrition today is chocolates.   Some say that chocolate does affect the condition of the skin, while others say it doesn’t.  Whatever the result may be, the best advice is just to follow a nutritious diet that has a number of fresh fruits and green-leafy veggies, as well as fiber.

Tip 3:  Consider Exfoliants

Many experts say that exfoliating your skin is another great way to attain a beautiful skin.  So, try to invest in a good body exfoliant or “loofah”, as it is commonly called, as it is capable of eliminating the dead skin cells from your body.   Accordingly, this should be done once or twice a week so to free the skin to breathe.   What’s more, exfoliants help to put off ingrown hair from developing.

However, it is essential to avoid using any body exfoliant on the skin on the face.   The main reason for this precaution is that the facial tissue is more sensitive and finer than those tissues of the body.

Tip 4: Consider a Healthy Routine for Facial Care

When it comes to facial skin care, getting into a healthy beauty routine is not bad.  Most of the doctors today greatly suggest that you cleanse, moisturize and tone your skin twice every day.   When cleaning, never fail to remember cleaning the area on the neck, including your face.  Apply a moisturizer or neck cream after.

Before going to bed at night, always bear in mind to remove all make up. Clean your skin before you sleep, no matter how tired you may feel.   It was found out that during the night, the skin goes through a process of elimination and cannot breathe properly if it is clogged with make up.  And, you may also find out that sleeping with your make up on will cause your skin to “break out” with spots on it.

When it comes to shaving for men, some men may experience shaving rashes.  For many, these rashes lower their self-esteem, but this is actually not a big problem to think about.  There are a lot ways to avoid rashes.  Perhaps one of the best is to make sure that when shaving, the razor strokes are following the direction of hair growth.  That’s simply it!

Tip 5: Heal Your Feet

When it comes to skin care, the feet are often neglected.  So, if care you found no time for a professional pedicure, try to fill a football or basin with warm water and add your favorite essential oil. Soak your feet for about fifteen minutes.  Then, dry them and apply a rough skin remover onto them.   Rinse this off and dry you feet well.   And, if you consider pedicure, simply add some body cream to your feet for an easy and quick fix pedicure.

Tip 6: Avoid Too Much Exposure to the Sun

One of the most common precautions when it comes to skin care is avoiding too much exposure to the sun.  As you may know, over exposure to sunlight causes sunburn.  So, while current sun blocks only block out the UVB rays and still let in harmful UVA rays, it is still wise to cover up before venturing into the hands of Apollo.   If possible, use a wide brimmed hat while tending your garden to keep the sun from your face.

Tip 7:  Exercise

Aside from considering a healthy diet, exercising your body also helps keep your skin healthy.  Note that a proper exercise does not only keep the body fit by regulating the oxygen; it also improves the glow of the skin as well.

Tip 8:  Take Enough Rest

One common problem that face people is stress; the one which is not normal.   It was found out that when a person is stressed, the adrenal cortex converts adrenal androgens to the hormone testosterone in male and female, which in turn results in overactive sebaceous glands.   These adrenal androgens are released causing a double amount of testosterone, causing the face to be oily, while other areas of the body are still dry from dehydration.  So, taking proper rest that includes 6 to 8 hours of undisturbed sleep daily is the best way to rejuvenate the skin.

Acupressure For The Face

In the last twenty years, alternative medicine from Asia has become popular. Acupressure for the face is a new approach that has come on the scene and is worth discussing.

Acupressure For The Face

Time takes a toll on our bodies, particularly our faces. There is just no hiding the damage of the sun, wrinkles and so on. Many people look to surgical lifts for a solution. Others, however, are nervous about the invasive nature of the surgery, possible side effects or the cost. A possible alternative for those not needing intensive repair is acupressure.

The results that you will get from an acupressure session are not going to be as dramatic or long lasting as those from traditional surgical options. Acupressure procedures are meant to be a holistic, massage-oriented alternative to having surgery, but are not to be considered on the same level. Acupressure is an ancient Chinese art of applying pressure to specific points on your body. This is believed to allow more blood and energy flow to the area that is pressed, which can correspond to other areas of the body. The results of acupressure have been seen for centuries by those practicing this craft.

Facial acupressure takes advantage of pressing these points on the face, and therefore allowing additional blood and oxygen to flow to these areas. This tightens the areas that are being massaged and pressed, leaving the client with a relaxed, youthful look. The facial area is massaged and stimulated with light pressure, which not only improves the facial circulation, but also helps to clean the facial lymph system. This technique also stimulates the underlying collagen of the face, which allows it to loosen and possibly regenerate faster, making the youthful look you get from the acupressure last.

Having an acupressure facial is not considered a medical procedure, but it is a certified practice by the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork. It is considered to be more intensive than a traditional facial which is commonly performed by a cosmetician. Some massage therapists will recommend more than one acupressure session to achieve full results, and you will want to consult with your therapist for the best course of action for your face.

Facial procedures are more and more common these days, but there are non-surgical options if you are not ready for the knife just yet. An acupressure session can give you a more youthful glow without surgery or any side effects. You also get the bonus of the relaxing technique of acupressure. It is a great compromise for those who need just a little help in the facial aging department.
