Finesse Female Facial Hair Removal

Female facial hair can be embarrassing. It often appears first during puberty and then gets darker and coarser after the age of thirty five, when facial hair removal becomes an important issue.

Most female facial hair appears over the lip and on the chin, but many females have unwanted hair on their jaw, cheeks and neck. Fortunately, there are a number of different ways to finesse female facial hair removal.

First and foremost, a female should determine the underlying cause of her facial hair before deciding on a removal method.

Females who are pregnant or nursing often notice an increase of facial hair. They should speak with their doctor before using any hair removal method that uses energy, chemicals or drugs.

Females who have high levels of androgens, (a steroid hormone, such as testosterone or androsterone, that controls the development and maintenance of masculine characteristics), creating facial hair may obtain prescription oral medications from a medical specialist.

Tweezing is probably the method most often used to remove female facial hair. But while it's okay to use tweezers for eyebrows, it really isn't for other female facial hair. It's painful, time consuming usually needing to be done on a daily basis, and over time, tweezing can damage the skin.

Some females believe they can conceal their facial hair by bleaching it, but then, under make up and in bright light their face looks, "furry".

Topical creams for female facial hair removal, available only by prescription, inhibit the growth of new hairs for about 50% of the females who have used one.

Shaving with a wet razor is not recommended as a female facial hair removal method because hairs grow back very quickly and the stubble appears thicker and darker.

One can remove unwanted female facial hair with a hair removal cream or lotion known as a depilatory. But don't be surprised if you get pimples as a reaction to the harsh chemicals.

A facial wax is a clean, fast and easy method for removing female facial hair for up to 6 weeks. But, many experience swelling and redness in reaction to the hairs being literally yanked out.

Electrolysis is an unpleasant form of female facial hair removal because it involves inserting a needle into the follicle, (the skin depression from which the hair emerges), of each individual hair, which can cause swelling, redness, pinpoint scabbing and even scarring. Electrolysis requires anesthesia, is expensive and needs to be done regularly for 1 or 2 years to achieve final results.

Laser treatments for female facial hair removal can provide results within six to eight treatments - If you can afford the hefty cost. Because laser hair removal involves a hot laser light, "zapping", the hair follicles, these treatments require the use of a topical anesthetic.

One last thing - If you do your own research you'll discover there is one more hair removal method that will help you finesse your female facial hair.

Anabolic Steroids

Anabolic steroids are natural and synthetic steroid hormones, which enhance the cell growth and division, resulting in the growth of many types of the tissues, particularly the muscle and bone. Anabolic Steroids are also known as anabolic-androgenic steroids.

Anabolic Steroids, also known as anabolic-androgenic steroids, are the synthetic derivatives of the naturally occurring male anabolic hormone testosterone. Different anabolic steroids have different combinations of the androgenic and anabolic properties. ‘Anabolism’ is the metabolic process of building the larger molecules from the smaller ones. The words anabolic and androgenic are originated from the Greek – anabolic, means ‘to build’ and androgenic, meaning ‘masculinizing’.

Anabolic steroids were first discovered in the early 1930s. These have been used for the various medical purposes including the stimulation of the bone growth, muscle growth, appetite and puberty.

Anabolic steroids are widely used for the chronic wasting conditions such as AIDS and cancer. These can generate certain physiological effects including the increase in the protein synthesis, muscle mass, appetite, strength, and bone growth. In spite of their positive side, when these are taken in excessive amounts, these result in many side effects such as high cholesterol level – rise in LDL, fall in HDL levels, increased blood pressure, hepatotoxicity and alterations in the left ventricle morphology.

Testosterone and di-hydrotestosterone are the physiological effects of the anabolic steroids. If it is taken during the time of pregnancy, then it can affect the development of the fetus.

The maintenance of the muscle and bone mass in the adulthood including the stimulation of the puberty growth spurts, including the hair growth, sebaceous gland oil production, and sexuality, are also affected by the intake of excessive amounts.

Anabolic steroids are androgenic and generate the androgenic effects in the human body. Androgens stimulate the myogenesis that is the muscular tissue’s formation. The androgens also cause the hypertrophy of the both types of the muscle fibers. Various types of the anabolic steroids bind to the androgen receptor for varying degree depending on their chemical structure.

DNA: The Future of Nutrition

Nutritional supplementation has become a must in our society today.  With the abundance of processed and nutrient-deficient foods, our bodies require extra support for optimum health.

We have witnessed quite a paradigm shift in the way we see nutrition over the last few decades.  The “one size fits all” nutritional supplement is no longer adequate, as we are now becoming more aware of the fact that each individual has different health needs and concerns.

Up until now, we have only been able to customize vitamins and nutrition according to gender, age, and different lifestyle needs.  Well, nutrition has evolved and we are now able to provide personalized nutritional supplementation according to each individual’s DNA.

GeneLink is the first and only nutritional company to provide this kind of advanced technology.  They are a 12-year old biotechnology company that has spent the last decade conducting research and studies in the field of nutrition and genetics.

They have discovered 12 DNA snips that are precise indicators of your body’s health at the genetic level.  They can determine what you have genetic predispositions for, where your body needs extra support, and what you cannot absorb.

Their ingredients are 80-90% organic, all-natural, and plant based.  They even have unique ingredients that have been found to actually improve the structure and health of your DNA.  With over 177,000 different possible combinations of ingredients, you can be assured that you are getting the most personalized nutrition that has ever been available.

GeneLink has finally decided to take their marketing division live.  GeneWize is now the name of their network marketing arm and will launch publicly in August of 2008.  Genewize will undoubtedly revolutionize both the nutritional and network marketing industries with a product this cutting-edge and innovative.

The future of nutrition is upon us as we are about to embark on a genetic revolution that will forever improve the quality of our lives and allow us to take care of our bodies at the deepest possible level…  at our DNA.

Elliptical Trainers Are Low Impact

Elliptical trainers provide a great cardio vascular workout but is low impact. That is there is less pressure, which is put on the joints of the legs. Thus it's not as strenuous as a treadmill. Therefore they are ideal for all age groups. Those in there 60s and 70s, who want to keep fit, can also easily use them. There are many versions, and options of elliptical trainers that are available in the market. The cost for an elliptical trainer starts at $300 and can cost up to $3000 dependent upon the functions and the features of the elliptical trainer.

To consider an elliptical trainer, one must make sure that it has a 21" stride. This length is ideal for an average person. There are many elliptical trainers that also come with a 14" stride. These are the foldable elliptical trainers, but can be quite inconvenient. Thus before you actually purchase one, look at reviews of the elliptical trainers and compare the various elliptical trainers that are available in the market. The comparison is done on the basis of cost, the type of material used, the stride length, the functions and the control panel.

Hence its important that before a purchase decision is made, you should have read all the reviews. The showroom and well as many supermarkets also retail the elliptical trainers. Hence you can make a comparison and reviews of the elliptical trainers can help you make an informed decision. The various factors that you should look into are the length of the stride, whether there are arms or not, the price factors, the various levels of intensity, the display of the control panel, the warranty that would be given with the elliptical trainers and your budget.

Of course it will depend on your personal preferences but the above criteria are a good starting point when selecting your first elliptical trainer.

Real Beauty Fitness

Fitness and beauty can be one and the same. Being fit and healthy will automatically make you look better. A healthy inside creates a healthy outside. Fitness through exercise can help you to maintain a healthy body weight and improve muscle tone.

Our looks reflect the sum total of who we are and how we live, and the best we can do in life is to make the best of what nature has given is, without excuse, apology, or pretense.

If we try to live otherwise, we find ourselves acting on a stage with other actors and actresses--great pretenders without real friends, without real lovers, without real relationships. While we realize that there is such a thing as "natural beauty," which  is beyond all standards of culture and history in some sense, there are also "relative" standards of beauty.

We all know about fads, styles, and adornments that are "in" one season and "out" the next. This includes cosmetics, hair styles, clothing, and even body weight and size.

These standards may vary from country to country, year to year, or even
among different age groups in the same country and year. For example,
full figures are considered the ideal in some historical periods, but slender figures are valued now--at least in Western countries.

The point is that cultural standards change--and we may choose to follow or ignore them--because the cultivation of natural beauty is not dependent upon fads.

In order to get along harmoniously, whether at the level of dating,
courtship, or marriage, men and women have to get past physical looks
and into the more important qualities that make up human relationships,
such as kindness, friendship, and areas of mutual interest.

There is such a thing as a beautiful personality. There can be beauty
in the way a person thinks. An attitude or smile can be beautiful. Love is certainly beautiful, and all of life is beautiful when we are in love.

A person is truly beautiful when he or she is healthy. Any disease or illness affects all parts of the body, sometimes for many years before the symptoms are manifested. If the body and mind are not healthy, then a person cannot feel or be truly attractive.

Good health brings a glow to the skin, a ring to the voice, a twinkle
to the eye, and a spring to the step that no beauty school can teach.

Natural Beauty From Natural Ingredients

In the past, women relied on natural beauty treatments from the ingredients found in their kitchen or gardens. Products created from natural ingredients available at home have essential vitamins, minerals, nutrients and healing properties that work with your body to heal and protect the skin naturally without any cosmetic cover ups.

The basic rule for home made beauty care -

- Keep the recipe simple. Avoid ingredients that you have unpleasant side effects on your skin.
- Sterilize and dry all the equipments and containers.
- Make small batches of the product that you would use each day.
- If you smell any thing rotten or bad, throw out the concoction.
- Do a patch test before trying out any home made beauty recipes to avoid nasty side effects.
- Hygiene and cleanliness is all important.
- Create natural home facial mask at home, keeping in mind your skin type.

Natural Home Facial for Oily Skin - Despite its disadvantages, oil skin is boon in the long run as wrinkles, lines, etc take time to show up than they would on the dry skin making you look younger than your peers. Though one still has to take proper care for oily skin with the right skin care products.

- Peppermint facial - Peppermint dissolves excess oil and gives cool refreshing sensation to the skin. It cleans the pores and kills bacteria that cause acne. Use pure peppermint essential oil. Mix 1 tbsp milk, 1 drop of peppermint oil, 3 tsp distilled water, 2-3 tbsp kaolin to make a soft smooth paste. Apply the peppermint mask on your face. Relax and let the mask harden. After the mask is completely tightened, gently peel and rub off the mask.

Natural Home Facial for Normal Skin - Having a normal skin does not mean that you should avoid taking care for it. Cleanse tone and moisturize your skin daily so your skin will stay healthy for years to come and make you look younger than your peers.

- Peppermint and Lavender oil facial mask - To relieve your self from tensions and headache, peppermint and lavender duo come handy. The natural facial mask relaxes the facial muscles. Mix 1 tsp jojoba or any carrier oil in a bowl with 1 drop of peppermint and lavender essential oils. Add 3 tsp distilled water, 2-3 tbsp kaolin to a smooth spreadable paste. Apply the face mask. Relax and wait for the mask to dry. Peel off solid pieces of hardened mask and use plenty of water to cleanse your face from the rest of the mask.

Natural Home Facial for Dry Skin - The honey and banana combo makes a good facial for dry skin. Honey leaves the skin hydrated with its hydrating properties and bananas with hordes of vitamins, calcium and other essential nutrients keep the skin smooth and soft. The bananas should not be overripe. Mash 1 small banana. Add 1 tsp of honey to it and mix well. Apply this on your face and leave it on for 10 -15 minutes. Wash off with lots of water afterwards.

The reader of this article should exercise all precautions while following instructions on the recipes from this article. Avoid using if you are allergic to something. The responsibility lies with the reader and not the site and the writer.

Beauty Care - What Is Sweat?

Sweat is bodys natural defense to maintain the body temperature. Sweat normally contains water, and very small amounts of salt, urea, sugar and ammonia. By sweating body cools itself of the heat that may get generated because of outside temperature, physical work, and emotional stress. Some diseases can also cause sweating. For that you should consult your doctor.

Over and under sweating- some of us may suffer from over sweating (hyperhidrosis) or very less or no sweating (anhidrosis). Very low sweating may be life threatening, while over sweating may sometimes be caused by some severe body problems.

Types of sweat- our body has two types of sweat glands- eccrine sweat glands and apocrine sweat glands. Eccrine glands are distributed all over the body. Apocrine sweat glands are located on the scalp, armpits and the genital area. These glands do not produce much fluid. Sweat is generally odorless. Most of the times, it is the bacterial disintegration of sweat of both the types that produces odor.

To avoid odor because of sweat, the best method is to keep skin dry. Good hygiene will not allow bacteria to develop and multiply. Change of clothes after sweating is another method, because clothes carry sweat and can cause odor. If you have excessive sweat or are getting troubled by sweat, please consult your doctor who may suggest different methods that may include use of antiperspirants, botox injection, Iontophoresis and in rare cases surgery.

Sweat is not a big problem for most of us. It is the odor that is the bigger irritant. Keep your body clean at all the times and take basic care and you will find most of the problems disappearing. Deodorants do not reduce sweat but only mask the odor with fragrance. the need is  not to mask but to stop bacterial disintegration of sweat and if sweat is excessive, to consult doctor and get treated.

Weight Gain Myths

The vast majority of myths about weight gain are mostly passed down from
"gym talk" and so-called experts who know nothing about the body's workings.

Myths that lead to wasted time, frustration and if are taken blindly as truth, can really set back your progress in the gym. Don't believe everything you hear in the gym when it comes to exercise and weight gain, do the research yourself.

Simple, basic principles apply to all weight and muscle gain such as progressive overload, variable frequency of reps and high intensity workouts. Lets take a look at some of the most common weight gain myths.

High repetitions burn fat while low repetitions build muscle.

Progressive overload is needed to make muscles bigger.
Meaning that you need to perform more reps than you did
for your last workout for that particular exercise.
If you perform the same amount of reps at each workout nothing
will change on you, also if the weight doesn’t changes on the bar nothing
will change on you. You need to become stronger.

Definition has two characteristics, muscle size and a low
incidence of body fat. To reduce body fat you will have to
reduce your calories; the high repetition exercise will burn
some calories, but wouldn't it be better to fast walk to burn these off?
Better still; use the low reps to build muscle, which will
elevate your metabolism and burn more calories (less fat).

Vegetarians can’t build muscle.

Yes they can! Strength training with supplementation of
soy Protein Isolate has shown to increase solid bodyweight.
Studies have shown that athletic performance is not impaired
by following a meat free diet, and people strength training
and consuming only soy protein isolate as a protein source
were able to gain lean muscle mass.

Strength Training will make you look masculine.

If it is not you’re intention to bulk up from strength training
you won’t. Putting on muscle is a long hard slow process.
Your strength-training regime coupled with quality food will
determine how much you will bulk up. To bulk up you also require
more food. Women don't produce enough testosterone to allow
for muscular growth as large as men.

By working out you can eat what ever you want to.

Of course you can eat whatever you want, if you don't care
how you want to look. Working out does not give you an open license
to consume as many calories as you want. Although you will
burn more calories if you workout than someone who doesn't,
you still need to balance your energy intake with you energy
expenditure.

If you take a week off you will lose most of your gains.

Taking one or two weeks off occasionally will not harm your
training. By taking this time off every eight to ten weeks
in between strength training cycles it has the habit of refreshing you and
to heal those small niggling injuries.  By having longer layoffs
you do not actually lose muscle fibres, just volume
through not training, any size loss will be quickly re-gained.

By eating more protein I can build bigger muscles.

Building muscle mass involves two things, progressive overload
to stimulate muscles beyond their normal levels of resistance
and eating more calories than you can burn off. With all the
hype about high protein diets lately and because muscle is made
of protein, it’s easy to believe that protein is the best fuel
for building muscle, however muscles work on calories which
should predominately be derived from carbohydrates.

If I'm not sore after a workout, I didn't work out hard enough.

Post workout soreness is not an indication of how good the
exercise or strength training session was for you. The fitter
you are at a certain activity, the less soreness you will
experience after. As soon as you change an exercise, use a
heavier weight or do a few more reps you place extra stress
on that body part and this will cause soreness.

Resistance training doesn't burn fat.

Nothing could not be further from the truth. Muscle is a
metabolically active tissue and has a role in increasing
the metabolism. The faster metabolism we have the quicker
we can burn fat. Cardio exercise enables us to burn
calories whilst exercising but does little else for
fat loss afterwards.

Weight training enables us to burn calories whilst
exercising but also helps us to burn calories whilst
at rest. Weight training encourages muscle growth
and the more lean muscle mass we possess, the more
fat we burn though an increased and elevated metabolism.

No pain no gain.

This is one myth that hangs on and on. Pain is your body
signalling that something is wrong. If you feel real
pain during a workout, stop your workout and rest.
To develop muscle and increase endurance you may need
to have a slight level of discomfort, but that's not
actual pain.

Taking steroids will make me huge.

Not true, strength training and correct nutrition will
grow muscle. Taking steroids without training will not
make you muscular.

Most steroids allow faster muscle growth through greater
recovery, while others help increase strength which
allows for greater stress to be put onto a muscle.
Without food to build the muscle or training to stimulate
it nothing will happen. Most of the weight gain seen
with the use of some steroids is due to water
retention and is not actual muscle.

Strength training won’t work your heart.

Wrong!! Strength training with short rest periods will
increase your heartbeat well over a hundred beats
per minute. For example, performing a set of breathing
squats and you can be guaranteed that your heart will
be working overtime and that your entire cardiovascular
system will be given a great overall body workout.

Any intensive weightlifting routine that lasts for
20 minutes or more is a great workout for your heart
and the muscles involved.

I can gain muscle and lose fat at the same time.

Wrong. Only a few gifted people with superb genetics
can increase muscle size while not putting on body fat.
But for the average hard gainer, they have to increase
their muscle mass to its maximum potential and then cut
down their body fat percentage to achieve the desired shape.

The Real Mayo Clinic Diet

For over thirty years, the Mayo Clinic has been combating the rumor that they recommend a version of a quick weight loss diet that touts the consumption of grapefruit, vegetables, fruits and unlimited portions of meat and fat. The clinic has repeatedly issued statements that the so-called 'Mayo Clinic Diet' did not originate at the Mayo Clinic and is not endorsed by them. In fact, they have gone so far as to state that it may be unhealthy for some people.

A visit to the Mayo Clinic web site will take you to the REAL Mayo Clinic diet, and their recommendations and guidance for weight loss that is healthy and permanent.

Summary:

Weight loss results from expending more calories than you consume. The only way to lose weight is to eat fewer calories than you use in your daily activities. The only way to achieve permanent weight loss is by adopting a balanced, healthy diet with portions that fit your lifestyle, and engage in regular physical activity.

The healthiest, most beneficial diet for you is one that takes your individuality into account. There is no 'one perfect eating plan' - not even one that will work for you 'for the rest of your life'. Your body needs different things at different stages. Illnesses and allergies, high stress periods - all result in changing nutritional needs for your body.

Basic Recommendations: The Seven Basic Rules

1. Eat more fruit and vegetables.
2. Reduce intake of saturated fats and cholesterol
3. Cut back on sweets and salt
4. Drink alcohol in moderation, if you must drink at all
5. Learn to eat moderate portions of food
6. Control the number of calories you consume
7. Include physical activity in your daily activities

Specifics by Food Group

Carbohydrates

Carbs are the body's main energy source. Complex carbohydrates such as whole grains, legumes and dried beans and grains are a staple of the Mediterranean diet, where heart disease, diabetes and obesity are extremely low.

Recommendation: 45 to 65% of your daily calories should be from carbohydrates. Focus on the complex carbohydrates, milk and fruit, and keep your intake of sugar, white flour and candy low.

Cholesterol

Your body uses cholesterol to build and help cells function properly. Typically, our bodies make all the cholesterol needed, and additional cholesterol is deposited on the sides of arteries and organs. Cholesterol is found in meat, poultry, eggs, dairy products and seafood.

Recommendations:

Limit intake of cholesterol to no more than 300 milligrams daily

Fat

One of the most concentrated sources of energy—fat—has more calories than protein or carbohydrates. Your body needs it to absorb some vitamins and build healthy cells and neural pathways. The kind of fat is important, though. Trans and saturated fats (from red meats, among other things), can raise your cholesterol level and heighten your risk of heart attacks.

Recommendation:

Aim for 20 to 35% of daily calories from fat. Focus on vegetable oils, nuts and fish oils rather than most animal sources.

Fiber

Fiber is the bulky part of vegetables. There are two types of fiber - soluble and insoluble. Your body needs both. Fiber is derived from bran, oats, wheat, green vegetables, apples and other fruits.

Recommendations:

For women: 21 - 25 grams fiber daily
For men: 30 - 38 grams fiber daily

As you can see, the real Mayo Clinic diet emphasizes a balanced diet derived largely from complex carbohydrates, fresh vegetables, little meat, and careful choice of fat. They advocate slow, steady weight loss rather than quick, take-it-off-now methods, and strongly suggest that the best eating plans are those that can become the basis for a lifelong change in eating habits. Along with those general recommendations, the clinic's Nutrition Center makes specific recommendations for each food group. Specifically:

Protein:

Protein is an essential nutrient for nearly every system in the body. It's contained in your skin, bones, muscles, blood, organs, hormones and enzymes. The major sources of dietary protein are meat, seafood, poultry, legumes, seeds and nuts.
Recommendations:

Between 10 and 35% of your daily caloric intake should be from protein-rich sources.

An Interesting Exercise

One of the contentions of the Mayo Clinic is that one-size fits all diets won't work for everyone. One of the most helpful parts of their Nutrition Center is their Daily Calorie Calculator. A link on the home page will take you to a Healthy Diet Calculator that will help you calculate a personalized eating plan to help you lose weight.

Here’s an example of what your personalized plan could look like:

Subject: Female, 225 lbs, 5 ft 6"
Recommendations:

Daily calorie goal for weight loss: 1200 calories
Sweets and extras: up to 75 calories daily
Fats: 3 servings
Protein/Dairy: 3 servings
Carbohydrates: 4 servings
Fruits: 3 or more servings
Vegetables: 4 or more servings

Further links offer a sample menu at that calorie level, and specific recommendations that will help you lose weight. Those tips include:

Increase the ratio of fruits and vegetables in meals
Experiment with new foods and combinations.
Start with a soup or salad.
Learn healthy cooking techniques.
Consider energy density of food.

Energy density?

The Mayo Clinic defines energy density as the number of calories in food vs. the amount of food. A sugary dessert may have extremely high energy density – in other words, a small serving provides a lot of calories. Consequently, it takes far more of that food to make your body feel full. Foods like broccoli have a much less energy density - 15 calories in a regular portion. You eat far less of it and feel full more quickly.

The basic recommendations made by the Mayo Clinic aren't ground-breaking. They advocate sensible eating, low calories and increasing your physical activity. The suggestion to aim for 1-2 pounds lost per week is echoed by nearly every other medically noteworthy institute in the country. It's a real diet - the real Mayo Clinic Diet.

Roadmap to Weight Reduction Success

There’s an old saying;

“If you don’t know where you are going, all roads lead there (nowhere!)”

I speak to many people who want to reduce their wait and the first thing I ask them is “how much do you want to reduce your weight by?”
The usual answer I get back is something along the lines of;

“Oh I don’t know, I am just getting rid of my excess weight”

or

“I’m just trying to lose a bit”

In fact I would estimate that 95% of the people I speak to do not know exactly how much they want to reduce their weight by! When you couple this with the fact that 95% of people who want to reduce their weight never succeed you start to see a bigger picture.

I would also say that a large amount of those people also do not know how much they weigh in the first place, how can you know if you are succeeding if you don’t know where you started from and where you want to go?

The simple answer is YOU CAN’T!

The title of this article is “The Roadmap to Success” so let me carry on with that metaphor.

If you are going on a journey and you needed to get to a specific place that you had never been before would you just set off and hope for the best? No of course you wouldn’t.
You would want to know where you are setting off from, how far it is, what the route is, do you need to stop on the way, do you need a car or boat, do you need to catch a plane, what time do you need to leave, how long will it take you, and so on and so on.

You may use an atlas or print a map off of the internet, you may phone the place that you are going so they can give you directions or ask someone that has been there before.

Can you hear what I am saying? Do you see where I am going with this?

If you can plan a journey with this much detail so that you get to where you want to be what is stopping you from planning your ‘weight reduction journey’ like this and giving yourself the best chance of getting to where you want to be?

The answer might be that you don’t really know where to start; well I am here to help you.

Below is a 7 point guide to planning your “Roadmap to Success” use it to ensure you give yourself the best possible chance of reaching your destination.

1. Find out where you are now! That’s right it means weighing yourself. I know that people who are overweight generally do not like weighing themselves; I have been there and know the feeling. Trust me when I say that this is an essential part of the journey. Just do it.
2. Decide on your final outcome! Work out for yourself what weight you want to reach. You can do this however you want, make sure it is achievable and that it is a healthy weight for you to be at. You now know how much you have to reduce your weight by.
3. Decide on a timeframe! Consider how long it will take you to reduce your weight by that much and set a deadline of when you want to reach your outcome. Again make it achievable – there is no point wanting to reduce your weight by 4 stones (56 pounds) in a week.
4. Split the timeframe down! Set some smaller goals, if you have given yourself a year for example split it down in to monthly goals to be achieved.
5. Who/what is going to help you? Everyone needs help, it’s that simple. Maybe you can get advice from an expert or buy a book or ebook. Which friends and/or family can you count on for undying support? Speak to them, tell them your goal and ask them for their help and support.
6. Get started and don’t stop! Sorry if that sounds simple but I hear so many people say “I will start next week” or “I am just having a day off, I will get back on it tomorrow” It is a hard truth that you cannot afford to stop every now and again or have a ‘day off’ There is no better time to start than right now and no better time to stop than when you succeed.
7. Finally, get ready to celebrate! One key thing that people miss out on when achieving something is the celebration. Celebrating tells your nervous system that this is good and I want more of it. So celebrate in a small way when you achieve your short term goals then plan a huge celebration for when you reach your ultimate outcome. Ask yourself ‘What is my ultimate prize for succeeding?” then right down a whole list of things and choose the ultimate that you promise to give yourself once you have reached your final outcome.

So by now you should have your journey planned, now get started, enjoy the journey and reach your destination.

You have my very best wishes.

Graham Nicholls

Elliptical Trainer Ratings

Buying an elliptical? You may want to look at several elliptical trainer ratings before buying to get an idea of which elliptical trainers are best for you.

Before you look at elliptical trainer ratings however, here are a few things you should know about how elliptical trainers are rated:

#1 Elliptical Trainers are Rated in Specific Price Groups

There are really 3 categories of elliptical trainers: Economy Buys, Mid-priced and Commecial Grade ellipticals.

Economy buys range from about $300 to $1000. Mid-priced ellipticals range from $1000-$2000. High End or Commercial elliptical trainers range from about $2200 and above.

When experts go to rate elliptical trainers they usually compare the elliptical trainers within price class.

So just because an economy elliptical trainer gets 5 stars and a mid-priced elliptical gets 4 stars, that doesn't mean the economy elliptical is better than the mid-priced elliptical. It just means that compared to other economy elliptical trainers, that one is superior.

#2 Experts Value Elliptical Features Differently

Ever wonder why certain elliptical trainers get rated highly by some experts and not by others? It's because different elliptical trainer raters value some features over others.

So for example, while Consumer Reports may give more weight to long warranties and stability, Consumer Guide may value smoothness of ride or ease of use.

It doesn't mean one elliptical trainer is better than another - it could just mean they are rated using different criteria.

#3 Use Caution When Reading User Elliptical Ratings

In addition to expert elliptical ratings, there are also websites that allow people to write a personal review of their elliptical. While these can be helpful when shopping for an elliptical, be cautious of basing your decision just on these ratings.

Exercise equipment is big business and some companies are not above having one of their employees post negative reviews on their competitors.

Also, no one elliptical brand has a perfect track record - sometimes even the best brands make a dud. And those are usually the people that go online to post a negative review. Those people who are happy with their elliptical are less likely to post a comment.

Bottom Line? Take user ratings with a grain of salt and compare them to your own research when deciding on your elliptical trainer.

So those are three things to keep in mind when looking at elliptical trainer ratings.

Going to the gym has its benefits

For most people, it simply isn’t practical to get gym equipment for their home. The equipment is expensive, and you probably don’t have anywhere to put it, and it’s certainly impractical to buy and store the wide variety of machines that are necessary for a properly balanced workout.

For this reason, most people choose to join a gym. For either a per-visit fee or a monthly subscription fee, you get to share the equipment with other people, paying a fraction of the price of what it’s worth. You also get to exercise in a specially-designed, luxurious air conditioned environment, with qualified trainers on hand to help you get the most out of the equipment and make sure you don’t hurt yourself.

However, gyms also have a bit of a reputation for being scammers: the big chains are very sales-driven, trying to sign people up for far more expensive monthly memberships than they need, and relying on people’s guilt about not going to the gym to stop them from cancelling the expensive commitment.

For this reason, you really need to know what you’re getting into before you join a gym. Avoid offers that seem too good to be true, and always pay the per-visit fee to go in and try out a gym first before you commit to anything. If there is no way to pay per visit, you’re dealing with shady types and should probably just go to another gym.

Even legitimate gyms will generally often cheaper and more expensive levels of membership, however, so it is also important to know what you can expect. Generally, the higher membership levels offer more one-to-one training from qualified gym instructors. However, it is worth considering whether you will really use this and whether it’s worth paying for, as when it comes down to it, there is little a gym trainer could tell you one-to-one that you couldn’t just as easily learn from books or the Internet.

Finding the Right Trampoline For You

Trampolining is a great way to get fit while having fun, but how do you find the right trampoline for you? Like so many other products these days, including fitness equipment, there is such a vast array of shapes and sizes available that any choice can seem completely overwhelming. But if a trampoline seems like the right fun and fitness choice for you, here are a few tips to bear in mind before you step into the store.

Buying the wrong type of fitness equipment can result in serious injury, so it is always worthwhile investing some time and energy in finding not only the right trampoline for you, but also one that is constructed to the very highest safety standards. Be sure to do some research on the trampoline’s manufacturer before you sign on the dotted line, making sure that they have a reputation for producing high quality goods. Also be sure to find out if the manufacturer or retailer offers a warranty and/or return policy, just in case some flaw should exist in your trampoline.

Any piece of fitness equipment will only be as well used as it is suited to you, so before you buy, be sure to have thought thoroughly about your trampoline expectations. Some basic traits relate to the high quality construction mentioned above, such as a sturdy frame and a taut base that will allow you bounce to your heart’s content. Above and beyond this, personal taste comes into play. Do you want to use your trampoline indoors, or outdoors? Do you want to share the jumping experience alone, or with others? All these factors will help you decide what style of trampoline is best for you.

Choosing the right trampoline can allow you bounce your way to health and fitness, so be sure to invest some time examining the market to find the best trampoline for you. While we all love a bargain, remember that you usually get what you pay for, so don’t shy away from paying a little more to get a sturdier trampoline, especially if you anticipate heavy usage. When you know you have made the right choice, there will be no limits to your fitness fun, and you will bounce yourself all the way to better health.

Fitness For New Moms

Becoming a new mother is certainly one way to incorporate more exercise into your life! From lifting to bending to picking up items, to carrying – seems like you never have a chance to sit still now that your precious bundle has arrived!

However, you may be feeling the need to exercise to get back into shape after your pregnancy. There’s no need to join an expensive club, though. Start by exercising with your little one!

One of my favorite exercises when my niece was born was dancing with her. We swayed to Mozart, twirled to 50’s tunes, and rocked gently to lullabies. Consequently, I became fitter, and Sarah has learned to appreciate all kinds of music.

Simply lifting your baby up and down and saying the words, “up”…. “down” give your arms a mini workout and help your baby learn! That’s right! Talking and moving help increase baby’s IQ! So sing to your baby, tell him or her that you’re moving “left”, “right”, “over”, “under”, “around”, etc.

Purchase a sturdy stroller and take baby out for a walk each day. The fresh air will be beneficial to you both, and it’s another great way to introduce your child to the objects around the neighborhood. You do want to make sure your stroller doesn’t jiggle too much – it’s not much fun pushing a stroller and ending up with numb hands (like you’re pushing a lawn mower!). A quality stroller will help you want to go for more walks with baby!

As your baby grows, he’ll mimic your movements. This is a fun time to incorporate some silly movement games into your “exercise” session. Watching her trying to do exactly what you do brings tears of joy and much laughter!

As you can see, exercising with a baby is not only possible, but loads of fun as well. It’s a time to bond, teach, and take care of yourself and your little one. One day soon you’ll be telling your school age child about all the fun you both had exercising together when he was a baby. And yes, it will happen quicker than you ever dreamed!

Aerobic Activity

The term aerobic means "with oxygen." During an aerobic activity , the cardiovascular system, which includes the heart, lungs and blood vessels, responds to physical activity by increasing the oxygen that is available to the body's working muscles. Aerobic activity involves an exercise routine that uses large muscle groups, is maintained for a long periods and is rhythmic in nature. Regular aerobic activity improves your fitness as your heart becomes stronger and begins to work better. The result is that the heart can pump more blood (thus increasing oxygen delivery to the tissues) with each heartbeat.

As your aerobic fitness increases, you can work out longer with greater intensity and recover quicker at the end of the session. Aerobic activity is often coined either High Impact or Low Impact. High-impact aerobic activity includes actions that take both feet off the floor, thus causing more jarring of the joints when the body weight hits the floor again. An example of Low Impact is walking while High Impact is jogging or jumping up and down.

It is important to start at a low intensity and increase this over the following few weeks as the exercise feels easier. For example, 20 minutes of walking, jogging or a combination of walking/jogging may be sufficient to leave you rather breathless and fairly tired at the start of your program, but as the weeks go by, you may need to increase the pace or introduce jogging up some shallow hills to achieve a further increase in fitness.

Remind that the heart works better when it is strong. Because the heart is a muscle, it can be made stronger with regular physical activity or aerobic activity. Explain that there are two types of exercise: aerobic and anaerobic. Aerobic activities use the arm and leg muscles and give the heart (and lungs) a continuous workout. Anaerobic activities build and tone muscles but are not as beneficial to the heart and lungs as aerobic activities.

Some of the best forms of aerobic activity are the traditional sports. If you get together and play basketball twice a week with friends, this alone might be enough to keep you fit and healthy. The important thing is to get some kind of aerobic activity, and to make it something that you enjoy enough to keep with it. Some people should consult their doctor before they start a vigorous aerobic activity program. The best advice I have is to join a gym for a month. This will let you try out lots of different aerobic exercises and find out which ones you like.

A Look At Obesity

If you thought being obese is being the target of fun, it only tells the part of the story about dangers and predicaments obesity exposes you to. Obesity is no more a simple result of overeating-lead-to-overweight case. To quote the American Obesity Association’s words, “It is now recognized that obesity is a serious, chronic disease. No human condition — not race, religion, gender, ethnicity or disease state — compares to obesity in prevalence and prejudice, mortality and morbidity, sickness and stigma.”

Obesity is a trojan horse. It brings a battalion of ailments, which are most detrimental to our health. To name a few, following are the complications that could arise out being obese.

1. Hypertension

2. Diabetes (Type-2)

3. Coronary heart disease

4. Stroke

5. Gallbladder disease

6. Osteoarthritis

7. Asthma

8. Sleep apnea and respiratory problems

9. Some cancers (endometrial, breast and colon)

10.High levels of cholesterol

This is an unending list, where each of the above ailments are capable of creating other complications, where no medication without side effect, could be comfortably used. Prevention is the best cure for obesity. How to achieve this?

Shake Your Head

A doctor once told my friend, who is obese that it is very easy to lose weight. My friend became very interested and asked him to suggest a way. The doctor calmly replied that just shake your head from left to right, maybe ten times a day! My friend became very curious. What is the idea behind this? He asked. Doctor calmly replied, "Whenever anyone offers you something to eat, shake your head from left to right". Simple, isn't it? It is simple, but it requires discipline, which is not simple. But then, habit makes discipline. Avoiding junk food and fast food must be done with a discipline.

Is Being Overweight Obesity

Obesity is not just due to eating disorder unlike overweight. Obesity is hereditary and it is measured by Body Mass Index or BMI. Adults over the BMI of 30 Kg/m2 is considered are considered obese and any one with reading between 25 and 29.9 kg/m2 is overweight, not obese.

Obesity is posing the biggest threat to Americans and the numbers are rising with each year. There are around 35% obese Americans according to a survey. This is also draining the state exchequer heavily to the tune of $25 billions a year.

What Causes Obesity

There are more reasons than one. Having obsession to eating more calories than you can burn off, how active are you, what you eat and whether you have an inherited streak in your genes, all these determine your chances of becoming obese. In any case it is due to the over accumulation of fats.

Is There An Anti-Obesity Plan?

There are many quick-fix plans being promoted by the so called dieticians which are not regulated by FDA. However, burning fat by increased physical activity and a changed lifestyle in addition to changed eating habits to healthier foods must gradually show results.

Although fat at hips is not quicker to harm you than the accumulation around waist, there is no guarantee that you are absolutely safe. Talk to your trainer and dietician, pull-up your socks and get going. After all, it’s your life.

Health Benefits of Ginseng

Ginseng is a common health drink in China, Korea, and Japan and consumed its distinct flavor and medicinal properties. The word “ginseng” came from the Chinese term “jen-shen,” which means, “in the image of man.” Ginseng refers to a group of herbs from the plant family Araliacae.

There are the three main types of ginseng: Oriental ginseng (Chinese or Korean), American ginseng (Panax quinquefolius), and Siberian ginseng (Eleutheroccus senticosis). Traditional Chinese medicine says that each type of ginseng has unique healing properties.

It contains complex mixtures of carbohydrate compounds, nitrogenous compounds, nitrogenous compounds and other essential vitamins and minerals. Compounds called ginsenosides were identified by many studies as its main active components.  Ginsengs have “cooling” effect, which make it useful for the treatment of fever, respiratory tract disorders, and the improvement of blood circulation.

Studies show that ginsenosides, the active ingredient of ginseng, is responsible for the many health benefits of ginseng. For this reason, ginseng is used by people the world over as an alternative medicine.

All over Asia, thousands of people drink the beverage because they believe that ginseng helps:

·    reduce fatigue and increases stamina;
·    increase the formation of red blood cells and helps eliminate anemia;
·    improve mental conditions and helps prevent neuroses;
·    increase the secretion of body fluids and helps prevent diabetes;
·    normalize pulmonary functions, preventing coughing, tuberculosis, and asthma;
·    strengthen the gastrointestinal system and can help facilitate liver regeneration;
·    detoxify poisons;
·    enhance blood alcohol clearance;
·    reduce the effect of alcohol intoxication;
·    eliminate hangovers; and
·    treat influenza and other infections.

Ginseng is also used to enhance physical and mental performance. It is often called an “adaptogen” because it bolsters the body's ability to combat physical and mental stress. Several studies show that ginseng is able to reduce the levels of fatigue in men and women. Many clinical studies show that people who take ginseng or ginseng supplements were able to overcome higher levels of emotional and physical difficulties. In addition, regular intake of ginseng may reduce one's chancer of acquiring different types of cancer especially the types that affect the lungs, liver, and ovaries. Reports say that individuals who use ginseng regularly feel better and are more alert. It may also improve one's memory and other mental faculties. For maximum results, some regular consumers of this herbal beverage include another traditional healing ingredient called gingko biloba.

Impotence is another ailment that can supposedly be treated through regular consumption of ginseng.          Ginseng is believed to be effective in helping increase sperm production.  It is also taken as a supplement to improve sexual performance. Recent medical studies show that ginseng does enhance libido and sexual performance.  Ginseng promotes the release of nitric oxide and improves the blood flow in the penis and, in the process, enhances sexual pleasure and performance.

For centuries, ginseng was used not only as a beverage but also as a tonic to improve sexual performance.  Still, more research is needed to fully validate the efficacy of Nature's wonder root as a medicinal product.

Health And Fitness

Most aging adults don’t get enough physical activity. Exercise, though, can improve health impairments and prevent some diseases. It can also improve mood and emotional well being. The keys, though, to a sensible senior workout are to take it slowly and keep it up. Older people need to find a realistic mild to moderate enjoyable program.

Let me give you 8 important reasons why You should work out.

1. Sleeping Aid for Seniors

Because exercise effects the body is so many positive ways, it is clearly the most natural option for helping address sleep related issues. Regular exercise will first of all help tire the body physically, ensuring a natural form of fatigue that the body will address with a
need to get appropriate rest.

2. Strength Training = Strong Bones

A critical aspect of aging is the general weakening of both muscle tissue and our bones themselves. One of the surest ways to reduce the stress on our weakening bones is to increase our muscles mass through strength training. Strength training has repeatedly been shown to be a safe and effective method of reversing muscle loss in the elderly

3. Strong Heart

People who exercise vigorously and often will reduce the risk of heart disease the greatest, but studies also show that any exercise can be beneficial. Studies have found that moderate exercise is also beneficial for those people with existing heart disease.

4. Arthritis Help

Arthritis is defined as the inflammation of a joint, but it can certainly seem more painful than that. It can cause searing pain that leaves the body feeling weak for days. As people age, arthritis tends to develop from the extended every day uses of the body.

Exercise, though, can assist with arthritis by strengthening the muscles near the joint which helps reduce joint stress. While exercise is necessary for everyone, it is essential for those with arthritis

5. 58% lower risk for Type 2 diabetes

A study reported a 58% lower risk for Type 2 diabetes in adults who exercise for as little as 2.5 hours a week, even if the exercise was of a moderate level.

People with diabetes are at high risk for heart disease, so the protective effects of aerobic exercise on the heart are very important for people with Type 2 diabetes. Initial indications are that strength training to increase muscle mass and reduce patient fat is also helpful for people with diabetes.

6. Increased Overall Fitness

Being physically active appears to stimulate immune cells that target many viruses and infections. Though exercise appears to stimulate such cells, that stimulation appears to last only a few hours. However, regular exercise appears to lower the overall risk of being susceptible to the flu, colds, and other viruses.

7. Increased Stamina and Slowing the Aging clock

Physical fitness allows the body to perform to its full capacity. Fitness helps us appear, feel, and act to our full potential. Exercise is essentially the capability to complete everyday responsibilities energetically and actively, with energy remaining at the end of the day for appreciation of other activities.

8. No Brain Drain

How many times do you hear yourself or other seniors say, "Sorry, I'm just having another senior moment?” Many seniors are making exercise more of a habit so their sharp and educated minds don’t suffer. Studies across the country are showing that seniors who exercise their bodies have the least trouble exercising their minds
