How to Find a Bargain Mini Skirt

One thing about the mini skirt is that they have been around for a long time.  This is something that will never go out of style no matter what year it is.  There are so many different skirts to choose from.  Many women have their own personal style and will find only skirts that fit their personality.  When a woman wants to do this she can find a bargain in a lot of places.

The first thing that woman looking for a bargain mini skirt should do is check out the sales.  You do not have to pay full price for a great skirt.  There are a lot of people that save money by shopping the clearance racks and paying way less for their clothes.  They figure that prices for all clothes eventually come down and they can wait for a good deal.

Other women shop at garage sells or consignment shops for a great mini skirt.  This is a great place to find awesome values for great pieces of clothes.  You can find different patterns and styles from many different eras when you shop this way.  The older fashions are becoming the hot new style again and there is no better way to get these things than by shopping the stores that carry them.

Going to goodwill is another good idea.  You will find great items that you can buy cheap and match up with things in your own closet.  You will be amazed at the different deals that you can get at these stores for mini skirts.  You will find unique and fun styles and have a great time wearing them for different occasions.

There is no reason why a woman cannot find a great bargain for a mini skirt.  Some girls will even raid their mom’s closet to find an old fashion statement.  There are many moms that still have their old mini skirts from the sixties and will let their daughters borrow them.  You can find vintage items for you to wear and look great in for all different occasions.

You can find mini skirts to wear to work, to school, for a night out of just for everyday.  There is no limit to what you can do with a great mini skirt.  You can match them with simple items or go all out and make a new fashion statement.  There is no limit to what you can achieve when you want to look hot and fresh in a mini skirt.

Sharing your mini skirts with your friends is another great idea.  You can borrow from them and they can do the same from you.  This is a great way to get new ideas and have a great selection any time you want.  You can have fun dressing up together and figuring out new styles.

If you really want to find a bargain mini skirt, you can make your own.  Take one of your longer skirts that you do not wear and trim it.  Cut the bottom hem out and make a shorter new one.  This is something that even the most inexperienced sewer can do.  This is a great way to make your own and save money.  Make sure that you cut a little bit off at a time so that you do not make it too short for your body.  Pair it up with some great accessories and you are on your way.

Elegant Not Strangled

I know most men don't like wearing neckties and bows except during desperate times (job interviews, meeting your girlfriend's folks, your wedding). But admit it, neckties and bows add a certain elegant appeal to your get up. Sometimes, you even catch yourself saying, "Bond.. James Bond".

Though ties make you think that your girlfriend is a sadist (Hon, you look dashing when you can't breathe..), you have to admit that she's right. You do look good in ties. Besides, it's not so bad since there are many tie styles to choose from. Aside from making you choke and look good, ties also offer a subtle way to change your look. Though learning how to choose good tie material is important, learning which tie style looks best with a certain shirt or proper occasion is key.

Nowadays, there are four tie styles commonly in use. There is the four-in-hand, half-Windsor, Windsor and Pratt knot. The three mentioned first are the classic knots. They have been choking, I mean adorning men's necks years and decades before.

Pratt knot is a recent tie style having been around only since 1989. Of course, talking about tie styles are not complete unless we talk about the disadvantages and advantages of these styles of neckties and bows. The four-in-hand style is the best style for those only starting to wear ties. For one, they are easily mastered and suit almost all occasion. However, they are suited best for shirts with narrow collars since they are asymetric and would look sloppy with wide collars.

Half windsor style knot is more difficult to tie. They do suit most occasions and shirt styles because of their symmetry and formal look. Windsor knots are best for formal occasions. This is a wide tie style and is best for shirts with white collars. Conversely, they would look over the top and improper with narrow collars. The more modern Pratt knott is the most versatile tie style. This is not too wide nor narrow and suits every shirt style. It can also be used for occasions. Plus, it also gives you a neat and polished look without sacrificing a relaxed vibe. However, for more formal occasions (weddings, high society affairs) a bow tie is preferred.

Quit whining when presented with neckties and bows. With a variety of styles to choose from, you could always choose the one you're most comfortable with. You'll feel good, fashionable, and most of all distinguished. After all, it is better to feel choked than look and appear sloppy.

Prom Dress and Makeup

Makeup and Prom Dresses - Blending for Beauty!

You have purchased your prom dress, shoes, jewelry, and handbag. You have decided on whether you will style your hair yourself or go to a beautician. Now you need to decide if you will do your own makeup or have it done professionally. With 2007 prom dresses, it's all about fashion, and makeup is a part of that fashion statement that will make you shine!

If you are one that does not like to wear makeup, you will need to wear a small amount for your prom. Makeup will bring your features out and cover those unwanted blemishes.

If you have decided to do your own makeup, put on your makeup before putting on your prom dress. This is a precaution to protect your prom dress from any drops or spills that may take place while you are applying your makeup.

There are many tips for applying makeup that can bring out your natural beauty.

Foundation and Concealer

The first step in applying makeup is choosing the perfect foundation. This is done by matching the makeup with your skin tone and complexion. Always make sure the makeup is well blended and there are no foundation lines around the neck. For any visible blemishes or dark circles under the eyes, a concealer can be used. Just dab it on lightly and blend it in good with the foundation.

Eye Makeup

Once your foundation is applied, your eyes are the next important step. You do not want your eye shadow to match the color of your prom dress, but you do want it to compliment the dress. In order to highlight your eyes, you will use a lighter shade or the base color from the lash line to the brow. Use a darker shade as a contour along the upper lash line from the center toward the outer corner, then back along crease.

With an eyeliner pencil, draw a single line above upper lash line from inner to outer corner. Then, draw a line under your lower lashes from outer to inner corner.

Mascara adds the finishing touch to your eyes. Hold the brush vertically to stroke your lower lashes. Then, for your upper lashes, wiggle the brush back and forth at the base, and then sweep the brush upward.

Blush

You may want to add a little cheek color just to make people think you have a natural glow. For applying this, you can use a cheek color brush and this will make blending easier.

Lipstick

Your lips can be brought out by lining them with a pencil, then filling them in with a creamy lipstick. This will give definition and shape to your lips. Glossy lipstick can be used for that stunning look.

Powder

Finally, after all your prom makeup has been applied, dust your face with loose powder using light, downward strokes. This can be applied by using a powder brush

Body Makeup

You may want to experiment with the body makeup to highlight your prom dress. This is glitter powder or gel that can be applied to your arms and shoulders and you will look like you are under the stars

Just one tip: Do not use any of your friend's makeup (especially eye makeup). Bacteria may be in the makeup because it has been opened and used. This can cause eye infection or pink eye. If you are having your makeup done professionally, carry your own lipstick with you.

These makeup tips can also be used for other occasions in which formal dresses, homecoming gowns and Quinceanera gowns are worn. Makeup and prom dresses can blend to bring out your beauty on your special evening!

Get Your Feet Ready for Sandal Season

The warm weather means one thing: Sandal season is here.

Get ready to feel the grass, beach or surf beneath your feet with the following heel-to-toe beauty tips from the American Podiatric Medical Association.

* After soaking, slough away calluses around the heels, balls and sides of your feet with a pumice stone or foot file. Avoid using a foot razor because it removes too much skin and can easily cause infection and permanent damage if used incorrectly.

* Eliminate dry skin and calluses by using an exfoliant scrub on the soles, sides and tops of your feet. Rub in circular motions and be sure to thoroughly rinse off the scrub. Pat feet dry, paying special attention to the area between your toes. Moisture can promote the development of athlete's foot or other fungal infections.

* Clip toenails with a straight-edge toenail clipper to ensure they do not become curved or rounded in the corners. Toenails should be trimmed to just above the top of each toe.

* Remove buildup under your toenails with a wooden or rubber manicure stick. Do not use a sharp tool to clean under your nail because you may puncture the skin and leave it vulnerable to infection.

* Smooth nail edges by filing toenails with an emery board. File lightly in one direction without drastically rounding the corners of the nail. The file should only be used to smooth the edge of the nail and not to scrape the nail's surface.

* Apply a healthy amount of emollient-enriched lotion over your feet. Be sure to remove any excess moisturizer from your toenails and from between your toes.

* After cuticles have been sufficiently moisturized, gently push them back with a rubber cuticle pusher or manicure stick. Cuticles serve as a protective barrier against bacteria entering the body and should never be cut.

* If you like to pamper your feet with pedicures, schedule appointments for first thing in the morning. Foot baths are typically cleanest earlier in the day.

* Apply nail polish only if your toenails are healthy. Nail polish locks out moisture and does not allow the nail or the nail bed to "breathe." Remove the polish regularly.

How To Choose Your Personal Scent

There is nothing like wearing a particular fragrance as a signature. Long after you have left the room your fragrance can linger. A particular fragrance can make quite an impact, on both sexes.

Most perfumes are made by combining three scents called notes. The top note lasts the least amount of time, the middle note lasts longer and the base note lasts around 24 hours. Generally when you first smell a perfume you will notice the top note. A few hours later you will smell the middle note.

There are seven fragrance types used in the creation of perfumes, they are woodsy or mossy, oriental, fruity, single floral, floral bouquet, spicy and what are called modern blends.

Today custom blended fragrances are becoming very popular. A personal perfumer will determine your basic preference, floral or citrus, spicy or outdoorsy. The perfumer will make selections based on your preference and then will "waft" these essential fragrance oils under your nose. They generally have you pick four favorites from that group. From that group of four you will pick a favorite one to be used as a base note.

Other perfumers will blend perfumes based on astrological signs and personality traits. Some perfumers have gone so far as to conduct tests based on color preference. Color psychologists say that colors supply information about the kind of fragrances we like. Events and seasons can also influence what fragrance a woman chooses to wear.

Your body chemistry will influence how any perfume will smell. It's known that over time the same perfume will change on a woman due to changes in body chemistry.

If you do wear a scent make sure that you use the same scent body wash and lotion. You don't want to clash. If you want a strong scent wear a perfume. If you want a lighter scent consider a spritzer or using a lotion containing the scent you like.

Bracelet a Fashion Statement For Eternity

Bracelet is a piece of jewelry that embraces the wrist and enhances the beauty of a slender hand.  The name bracelet is taken from the Latin word ‘brachile”, which means “of the arm”.  Bracelets give an exotic look and there is no woman who wouldn’t want to show off this ornament dangling from her wrist.

Bracelets have been worn for a long time. Our ancestors wore bracelets made of wood, beads, stones, bone strips etc.  Bone strips were formed into rings and then fastened in a circle with metal clasps.  Metal and ivory were also used in the 4th century.

There are several superstitions associated with bracelets in several parts of the world.  Some believe that certain bracelets ward off evil, while others believe they bring good luck.  There is a Greek superstition where mothers make bracelets (Martis) with red and white string and tie them on their children’s wrists on March 1st.  They believe that wearing these bracelets will ensure that the sun does not burn their cheeks and they remain pink in color.  After midnight, they are thrown into a bonfire.

Bracelets in the modern day are made of a variety of materials.  They are made from precious metals like gold, silver, platinum, palladium, and white gold.  Precious gemstones set in precious metal bracelets, bestow grandeur and incomparable elegance.  To make them more affordable to the common man, they are even made with cheaper materials like plastic, beads, glass etc.  Bangles are also a form of bracelets, which are used extensively in India.  These can be in plain form or set with stones.  When bangles made of glass are worn together they give out a tinkling sound that is beautiful.   Every material known to man is used in the making of bracelets.

There is a bracelet for almost every occasion and even sports are not left behind.  There are charm bracelets, tennis bracelets, sports bracelets, slap bracelets etc.  Colored silicon rubber is used in the production of sports bracelets and this trend has been started by Lance Armstrong, in the form of wristbands, for cancer awareness.   The tennis bracelet is also called a thin line diamond bracelet.  They are thin and elegant and have a symmetrical pattern of diamonds.  When talking about tennis bracelets, Chris Evert, the tennis star comes to mind as she was not only famous for her bracelets, but she is said to have lost one during the US Open in 1987 and the game had to be paused while she searched for her precious bracelet. This is when the ‘tennis bracelet’ name was given to the thin line diamond bracelets.  Charm bracelets contain charms like little hearts, fairies, angels, crosses etc.  These charms have a meaning and signify something important in the person’s life.Bracelet is a piece of jewelry that embraces the wrist and enhances the beauty of a slender hand.  The name bracelet is taken from the Latin word ‘brachile”, which means “of the arm”.  Bracelets give an exotic look and there is no woman who wouldn’t want to show off this ornament dangling from her wrist.

Purse Envy Syndrome

A dictionary meaning of envy is “a feeling of discontent and resentment aroused by and in conjunction with desire for the possessions or qualities of another.” People have feelings of envy for many reasons. A new emerging form of envy is what I call Purse Envy Syndrome (PES). PES has taken on different facets for different people and taken on various meanings over the last several years. PES has been a male dominated syndrome, though few will admit to it. Men are fascinated with women’s purses from the time they are boys. As boys they pull at their mom’s purses for attention and sometimes search through the bags searching for the goodies she has stored inside. As they get older, they do the same process with their girlfriends and then their wives. They not only are fascinated with what she carries in her bag, but often ask for her to carry their items in the bag!

Men are not the only ones with PES. Women can have it too! In fact, they get it even worse than men! Women fantasize about carrying designer label purses or one’s similar to celebrities. Who wouldn’t want a Kate Spade, Louis Vuitton, Brighton, Coach, Gucci, Marc Jacobs, or Dooney and Bourke? Most women aren’t lucky enough to be able to afford the designer labels, but lucky for us, there are very good replicas on the market. If you decide to splurge and buy an authentic designer purse, please buy it from a reputable source. Unfortunately, there are sellers that try to sell replicas as the real thing. There are many reputable sources for buying replicas as well. Replicas should not infringe on the rights on the authentic purse. They should in no way pass themselves off as the real thing.

Women comb through fashion magazines looking for what celebrities are wearing and what accessories they are wearing and carrying. Everyone wants to be able to sport the latest fashions. It seems that one of the best ways for us to do that is to watch the stars and try to mimic their style. It seems each star tries to make their own statement by wearing and carrying different designers, shapes and styles. So how do we keep pace? Again, we luck out! We don’t have to keep pace. We choose the styles we like best and go with those.

Women also look to their friends and people they see at the mall or restaurants to find new trends. How many times have you seen someone with a purse and said to yourself, “I wish I knew where she got that purse?” Sometimes you may be brave enough to approach the woman and ask. You should not be afraid to ask someone where they got their purse—it’s very flattering! Don’t you love it when someone notices what you have on or the shoes or purse you are carrying? Most women are more than happy to tell you where they got their purse. If they won’t tell you, try searching the internet—you may luck out and find it yourself!

Women fret about matching their shoes with their purse or finding the right purse to match an outfit. After all, the right purse makes the outfit complete! Rest assured, that in today’s world, the purse no longer has to match the shoes! You can be wild and crazy, calm and sedate, conservative or classy—it’s all about what makes you feel good about yourself that counts. Your purse says a lot about yourself, so use it to express the many nuances that make you YOU. Carry different purses for different occasions that allow you to show the many sides of you.

So, what is the answer to PES and how do you overcome it? There is no quick answer to this ongoing syndrome. Most men are not going to buy a purse—if they did, they are afraid they would be called a sissy. The man purse is gaining popularity in Europe and Australia, but not likely to gain popularity in the US. Women will always want to look their best and have the latest fashions. PES is here to stay and most likely will grow to overwhelming proportions. My suggestion is to give in to the syndrome and go buy a purse!
